The B l a c k h e a t h Club opens the season against Granville (Lee), at Lee, on May 1st. Stanley Christopherson will again captain the side, with R. B . Stewart as the second in command. The team will differ very little from that of last summer. H. C. Stewart and J. R. Mawm wilL be able to play in the earlier matches, and the club has received a valuable acquisition in the person of Capt. R. P. Spurway, of Somersetshire fame. The bowling will again be somewhat weak, but with Stanley Christopherson, Stanley Heath, J. R. Mason, R. B. Stewarr, E. G. Waymouth, and others, the club ought to be able to get along in this department. The ground is in capital condition, and the club has incurred con siderable expenditure in laying new practice wickets. G. A. Street retains the post he has held for several years as groundman. J. J. Osman is the bowler. M AT. 1. Lee, y. Granville (Lee) 1. Blackheath, v. West Kent Wanderers* 8. Blackheath, v. M.C.C. S. Woolwich, v. R.M.A. (Woolwich)* 8. St. Quintin Park, v. Kensington Park* 15. PI u’stow C l a p t o n is fortunate in retaining the servicesof R. H. Walbancke (12, Nicholas Lane, E.G.) as its hon. sec. It has. too, the advantage of having that excellent sportsman, C. M. Tebbutt, the treasurer of the Essex County C.C., as its president. The bulk of Clapton’s fixtures are with North Lon Ion clubs, and, indeed, pretty well the only exceptions are Honor Oak and Brixton Wanderers, the Old Citizens aud Erratics, who have no local habita tion as far as we know. The Clapton week is very early in the season. It extends over Whit Week, and is made up of tix1ures with the Old Citizens, Erratics, South Hampstead, the Clove, M.C.C. and Ground and Cheshunt and District. The Clapton C.C., it may be added, is in its sixty-seventh year, having been founded in 1831. M AY. 1 Clapton, v. Enfleld I Enfleld, v. Enfleld 8 Hornsey, v. Single The F o r e s t H il l C.C. is able to put three elevens into the field throughout the season. J. E. Trotter, the Hon. Sec. (218, Sanstead Road, Forest Hill, S.E.), ludeed, finds that the programme grows steadily. The card is too long for us to give all but the first eleven matches, which number thirty-two. The Week commences on July 6, and is made up of one-day fixtures with WansteaJ, Sidcup, j'Ciiutet wk.
