The following extracts from the Mel­ bourne C.C. report are of great interest: —“ The number of members now on the roll is 2,909, being one more than last season, the then highest on record. The receipts from entrance fees and sub­ scriptions amount to £5,775. The net profits from the various sports meetings held on the ground amounted to £504 5s. 5d, or £360 14s. lid . more than during the previous twelve months, owing to additional bicycle meetings being held on the ground. The revenue from the bar account was £575. The gross receipts from football for the ground and grand-stand amounted to £737 10s. 10d., a falling off from the previous season of £428 13s. lid . the general account of the club benefiting to the extent of £182 2s. 8d, while £230 4s. lOd. was distributed amongst the football clubs which played on the ground, and £185 8s. Id. handed over to the Victorian Football Association, being the proceeds of the match played on behalf of the charities. The net revenue and receipts from all sources for the season amounted to £7,353 2s. 9d. The only liability of the club is shown in the balance due to the bank, £2,384 13s. Id. “ In all, 161 matches were played during the season, 73 of which were won, 60 drawn, and 28 lost—a record which has not hitherto been surpassed by the club. The senior eleven played 12 first- class and pennant matches, winning eight, losing two, and drawing two. The best records were—683 against St. Kilda (pen­ nant), 643 against University (pennant), 527 against Richmond (peniiant), 449 against Newcastle (N.S.W.), 425 against Carlton, and 385 against Fitzroy(pennant). “ The first eleven averaged for batting in pennant matches the very high number of 422 runs per innings, while the bowling average was also very good, being at the rate of 17'52 runs for each wicket taken. The honour of being placed on the merit board for batting rested with Mr. H. Trumble, who secured first position with the high average of 65’66 runs per innings for nine innings played, Mr. C. M ’Leod being second with 54-45 runs per innings. “ Mr. Bruce has obtained the position on the merit board for bowling, getting 19 wickets at an average of 16 47 runs per wicket.
