The abstract and brief chronicle of the time.— Hamlet. I t would be almost absurd to attempt to prophesy the result of a match between the Universities, even in a year when one side is obviously much stronger than the other. This year the chances seem as nearly as possible even. Nervousness generally plays a very important part in these matches, but it may safely be said that there are four or five men in each team who will not be out before they come in. I f in either University team there is a man who can bow l lobs it m ight be worth while to try him if the regular bowlers are collared. I n each of their three matches with Y orkshire the Australians have won the toss.
