The match between these schools this year furnished an instance of the risk run by a captain iu putting his opponents in first. The Eton captain, hoping that the wicket would improve, put Winchester in. The first few men did so well that the visitors, with a m uci weaker team than last year, when they were victorious, had to play an uphill game, and did not prove quite equal to tbe occasion.
