Played at Trent Bridge on June 1 , 2 and 3. Drawn. It is becoming customary for Yorkshire to make a big score (except when they play the Australians), and at Nottingham they did entire justice to their reputation. Not so many years ago, it was most unusual for anything like a large score to be made in a Notts v.Yorkshire match, even on the very best of wickcts, for the bowling on both sides was so good, and the fielding so close, that the batsmen were placed at a disadvantage.’ In these days all this has been altered, an.I anybody is at liberty to knock the bowling about. Mr. Jackson reappeared on the Yorkshire side after his accident, and made «°8. The great stand of the Yorkshire innings came when he was dismissed, Tunnicliffe and Brown completely mastering the Notts bowling. Brown made another hundred. Denton was soon disposed of, but nearly everybody else g.ive the Notts field plenty of work. Another fine stand was made by Peel and Hirst at the end of the innings, and, as most of the team made double figures, the total was very larpe. Against it Notts—thanks chiefly to Gunn and Shrewsbury, who, as partners, played almost perfect cricket—did very well indeed, although they could not quite save the follow on. At the end of the second day they had just finished their first innings, and there was very little prospect that the match would be brought to an issue. On Wednesday Notts managed to keep in until just before the time of drawing stumps. Great praise is due to Attewell, Gunn, and Mr. Wright. Y o rk sh ire . F. S.
