Cricket 1896
150 CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. M a y 21 , 1896. GLOUCESTERSHIRE v. YORKSHIRE. At Bristol, May 14 and 15. Yorkshire won by nine wickets. There was nothing either very interesting or very remarkable in this match. It was almost a foregone conclusion that Yorkshire would win, and would, moreover, win pretty easily; and when the Gloucester shire first innings only realised 131. the game was as good as over. Most of the Yorkshiremen made runs, but (except Moorhouse and Peel) none of them did great things. In the Gloucestershire second innings the team as a whole again broke down, but W .G. (who had played sound cricket for 30 in the first innings) was seen at his best. He made 70, and was out to a wonderful catch by Mr. Milligan. Yorkshire h id no difficulty in making the necessary runs. G loucestershire . First innings. Second innings. W . G.
