GROUNDS AND RUN -GETTING . The several grounds upon which matches are played are called slow and fast, very often without sufficient reason. The St, James' Gazette prints some interesting figures show ing the number of runs scored during the season on the several counties’ grounds. But it would have been well whilst compiling this return, to show the number of hours’ play which took place on each. However, the figures are of such general concern that we reproduce them for our readers’ information. W k ts.
