Scores not thus arranged for are inserted at the rate of Two Shillings each match if space admits. ^ a b t l t o n ( S o g g tjL The abstract and brief chronicle of the time.— Hamlet. I n addition to Charlesworth, Yorkshire seems to have got another new all round cricketer of more than ordinary promise in David Denton. His fine innings for the Second Eleven of Yorkshire at Barnsley early last month assured him of a trial in the County Eleven whenever an opportunity arrived. As it happened, this came almost immediately, and Mr. F. S. Jackson’s inability to play last week at Cambridge, gave Denton a chance which he did not fail to utilise. Anyhow, he has more than justified his place in the Yorkshire team by two fine not out scores, 77 against the University and 44 against Lancashire. More than that, his stand with Hunter added 102 runs to the total of Yorkshire v. Cambridge, which is of itself a very rare record for the last wicket in a first-class match. An elder brother of his, whose forename was Joe, played, by the way, for Yorkshire occasionally a few years ago.
