The abstract and brief chronicle of the time.— Hamlet. So many different statements have been made, and I am bound to confess in Cricket equally with other papers relative to the date of G. A. Lohmann’s return to England that it is satisfactory to be able to make a definite pronouncement on the subject on the authority of G. A. L. him­ self from a communication received from him only this week. I learn that he will leave Cape Town on the eighth of next month in the Union line steamer “ Moor.” According to this he should be due at Southampton a fortnight later, so that should these arrangements be carried out he should be in evidence on the Surrey Ground within a little over three weeks from to-day. O f W. G.’ s latest performance against Kent so much has been written during the week that it is hardly possible to suggi st anything new in the way of praise. A
