I have a complete list before me— 99 cases. It is too long to reproduce. It is significant that in all the matches played by Yorkshire prior to the formation of the County Club in 1861, only once were the “ spectacles” made, viz. by Harry Wright in 1855 against Sussex. Taking the above 13 leading batsmen, we find that G. Anderson, R. Iddison, J. Row botham, and F. S. Jackson do not figure in this black list. Of the rest E. Lockwood is there six times, in 1873, 1876, 1878, 1882 (twice), and 1884. A, Greenwood, once, in 1872. L. Hall once, in 1879. G. Ulyett, twice, in 1880. W . Bates, oncc, in 1878 and 1879. Lord Hawke, 3 times, in 1882, and 1891 (twice). R. Peel, once, in 1893. F. Lee, 3 times, in] 1885, and 1890 (twice). E. Wainwright, 3 times, in 1888 (twice), and 1890. N.B.— 0 (not out) has, of course, not been included in the “ spectacles.” II.—BOWLERS. I. Hodgson ... W. Slinn.......... G. Atkinson ... L. Greenwood G. Freeman ... T. Emmett A. Hill .......... G. Ulyett’s work with bat and ball stamp him as the greatest cricketer Yorkshire have ever had. BOWLERS UNCHANGED IN A MATCH. 1831 Hodgson and Atkinson, v. Surrey 3868 Greenwood and Freeman, v.
