Cricket 1894
MAY 1?, Ib94 OfilCKETi A WKJEK.Lt RECORD OF THE QAM® 131 why is their Warn ioksLire matoh omitted from the list at bottom of p. 119 ? W.G.'s 128 v. Kent should appear under the “Chief Scorers.’’ And what have Glouces tershire cricketers been guilty of that no mention is made of them among the “ Chief Cricketers of 1893,” either ama teurs or professionals ? Richards’ Notts Scores and Biographies is a model book— demy 8vo. size. The type is bold, the descriptions of matches are short but comprehensive, whilst the sketches of great Notts cricketers are most detailed. I am glad it is an Annual. The “ Hampstead Cricket Club, 1893,” for members only, is an exquisite volume, unique, indeed, as to paper and bind ing. A worthy memorial of one ot the strongest Metropolitan clubs. More pre tentious is the “ Yorkshire County Cricket Club, 1894,” in that, in addition to full scores, etc., of the County’s matches in 1893, it gives scores (only) of all matches played by Yorkshire since 1833, total runs scored, by Yorkshire and each of their opponents, followed by a list of all the men who bave played for York shire since 1833, with date of their birth, death, and first appearance. The last list especially is full of inaccuracies, and, as might be expected in a first venture, mistakes occasionally occur in the other tables. , But it is a book of much value, noteworthy in that it is the first book of the kind issued by the County Committee.
