This would seem to be the feeling of those who have the management of the Hastings and St. Leonards week. It would appear in any ease as if the official announcement that this year would see a renewal o f the old fixture between Gentlemen of South and Players of South was just a little too previous. At all events, the subscribers in solemn conclave assembled last week decided that North v. South should once again form the second attraction of the annual gathering. A l e t t e r received from G. A. L oh ­ mann during the last few days gives the comforting assurance that he is making the most satisfactory progress towards complete recovery. H e adds that he is steadily regaininghis strength and activity, and altogether is a very different fellow to what he was just before he left England. He has not lost weight,and,indeed,is much about his normal condition o f twelve stones. I have heard, too, from another source that he has been going in for a little cricket practice every day. All o f which, I need hardly add, is “ tidings o f comfort and jo y .” I t is rather a big order the directors of the Crystal Palace are under­ taking, when they claim for the Sports and Pastimes Exhibition they propose to hold during the four weeks extending from July 11 to August 8, that it will embrace everything connected with the horse and its stable, the dog and kennel, shooting, boating, fishiDg, travelling, athletics, outdoor and indoor games and
