Scores, Notts 301 and 340 (4 wickets), Sussex 246 and 251. Total 1138. Notts have only once been beaten after making opponents follow on : viz., by Middlesex at Lord’s in 1891. In 1872 and 1873, three matches were played each year against Yorkshire. Since 1830 Notts have not beaten L an ­ cashire at Old Trafford. In 1877, W ild being disabled, Selby, Barnes, Baft, and Morley kept wicket against Middlesex. Since the Oval was opened in 1844, every match between Notts and Surrey has been played either at Trent Bridge or the Oval, excepting that of 1854, which was played at Godalming. In 1880, Notts did not once score an innings of less than 100 rnns ; in 1889, Notts won the first six first-class County Matches with more than an innings to spare : Sussex (twice), Surrey, Middlesex, Lancashire, and Kent. Two single wicket matches worth noting 1862. Jackson, Daft, and A. Clarke v. Hayward, Carpenter, and Tarrant. Notts 12 runs, Cambridgeshire 3. 1802. Bignall, Jackson, Oscroft v. Smith, Pryor, and Tarrant for ,£20 aside ; Cambridgeshire 17 runs. Bignall scored 18 (not out), and so Notts won. LANCASH IRE CRICKET. 1. Centuries scored against Lancashire— 6.
