The ordinary meeting of the Victorian Cricketers’ Association was held on March 8 in Melbourne, Mr. Best, M.L.A., occupying the chair. AUSTRALIAN CRICKET COUNCIL. The meeting considered a code of rules, brought up by a special committee, for the control of an Australian Cricket Council. The rules which the committee recom mended to the association were read, and were adopted without important modifica tions. As adopted, they were to the effect that the council should be deemed to be formed as soon as its constitution was adopted by the associations of the colonies of New South Wales, South Australia, and Vic toria. The council should consist of four delegates from each colony. The association of any other colony might be admitted after the council was constituted. The office-bearers should consist of a president, two vice-presi dents, and an hon. secretary, to be elected at the annual meeting of the council from the delegates. The first election of office bearers should be held at the first meeting of the council, which should be convened by the committee of the New South Wales association as soon as practicable after the adoption by the several associations of the rules. A meeting of the council should be held at least once a year, at such time and place as should be decided by the council. The manager and members of any Australian team visiting England or elsewhere should be approved by the council, which should be empowered to declare whether the time fixed for a visit of an Australian, English, or other eleven were opportune or otherwise, and should communicate such decision to the governing cricket bodies concerned. All disputes between associations, or arising out of matches played between colonies repre sented on the council, should be referred to and decided by the council, and any associa tion declining to abide by such decision should cease to be represented on the council for such time as should be agreed on. The council should be empowered to invite the co-opera tion of the governing cricketing bodies of England or elsewhere, with a view to giving effect to the rules of the council. It was agreed that five gentlemen should be appointed from the association to repre sent it at a proposed cricket conference, to be held at Adelaide on or about the 25th inst., and that the rules just adopted should be handed to the five gentlemen as instruc tions. Messrs. Eruce, Budd, Row, Madden, and Best were elected to represent the association at the Adelaide conference. It was agreed that a copy of the rules should be forwarded to the New South Wales Association. O n the 11th inst., at Kynnce, Northlands Road, Southampton, the wife of Mr. H. K. Grierson, of a son.
