Since that time one of the brother­ hood, Robert (who, I may add, would have visited England with the last Aus­ tralian team if he could have spared the time), has cume very prominently to the front as one of the best allround players in Australia. In proof of this it is only necessary to point to the fact that his excellent all­ round cricket justly secured him a place in the team which represented Austialia in the test matches against Lord Sheffield’s Team. O n l y very recently, however, b e in­ creased his already high reputation by an exceptional performance, which very nearly placed him on the pinnacle of a record for Australia. It was pretty hard luck for him that he should have failed, considering that he had got within four runs of the highest score so far chronicled in Australian cricket. But considering the heavy run-getting against Essend"ii in the match in question, played at Mel­ bourne at the end of February, it will lie best if I give the Melbourne score in full: M k lbo ubne C l u b .
