The seventh tour of this club in Devonshire was favoured with very fine weather, and resulted in victories over Exeter, Exmouth, South Wilts Club and United Services, with three losses and two drawn games. In the matches at Seaton and Sidmouth the want of another bowler was much felt. W. G. Heas man, of the Sussex Eleven, joined after the latter matches and his all-round play proved most valuable. The only century was made by G. E. Bicknell, 106 not out, at Exmouth, following an excellent 70 not out against the Exeter Club, who had an unbeaten record up to this date. D. L. A. Jephson batted finely in the three last matches. S. Colman and H. Hetley batted consistently, and G. E. Bicknell and G. Cosens did good service with the ball. The all-round fielding was excellent. The club was fortunate in having two such good wicket-keepers as F. E. Saunders and F. D. Pawle. Tne custom of using amateur um pires, who are frequently changed during a match, seems to be on the increase in Devon shire, and is to be deprecated in the interests of the game. Visitors find that professional skill is engaged against them on the field which might better be used in the onerous duties of umpire. This proved the only draw back to what was a most enjoyable tour. CRYSTAL PALACE v. SEATON.—Played at Seaton on August 8 and 9. S ea to n . First Innings. Second Innings. A.
