The Upper Clapton Club closed its season on Saturday last with the above match. The fixture was arranged as a benefit for G. Osborn, who has been head ground man of the Club for over twenty years, and as several well known players took part in the game, some interesting cricket was witnessed! W hen play ceased, the Eleven were 43 on having lost one wicket in their second innings! P. Nell bowled with great success against the later batsmen of the eleven, taking five wickets in twenty-eight balls, at a cost of only four runs. F or theeleven, Mead’ s bowliugwas the m osteffective.
