Cricket 1892

88G CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME, AUG, 25, 1892 INOOGNITI IN THE WEST OF ENGLAND. The annual tour of the Incogs in the W est, which has just been com pleted, extended this year to three weeks. Begun at W estbury on August 1st, it closed at Lyndhorst on Saturday last. The results were em inently satisfactory, as out o f the nine m atches played six were won, two drawn, and only one lost, and that by the narrow margin of three runs. On two occasions, at W estbury and Exmouth, the W an derers scored over 400 in an innings. The tour was attended by a variety of “ moving accidents by flood and field,” one of tbe team being nearly drowned whi e bathing at Torquay, and the whole lot being upset out of a break while driving from Exmouth to Sidmouth. Fortunately no one was much hurt but the effect of the “ spill ” upon their nerves had undoubtedly much to do w ith the poor show of the Incogs on the second day of the Sidmouth m atch. The defeat at Bournemouth was to a great extent brought about by the extraordinary obliquity of vision of thehom eium pire, who allowed Harenc to “ sta r” at least twice when he was palpably “ dead.” One memorable feature of the tour must not be forgotten, v iz : the perform ance o f Greenway in hitting S. M. J. Woods for 20 in an over at Welling ton -th ree fours, a six, and a two. The subjoined scores will show the actual doings of each m em ber of the team, which worked throughout with the utm ost harmony and good fellowship. The best thanks o f the Incogs are due to Mr. and Mrs. Laverton for their great kindness and hospitality at Westbury, and also to Mr. Peyto Shrubbytho Hon. Secretary of the Torquay C.C., for his generous entertainment. The dances at Torquay and Exmouth were not tho least pleasing eaturcs o f the tour. INCOGNITI v. MR. W. H.
