McLaren all away, had not its best side, they had still a very strong combination to test the merits of the Durham Eleven, at Norton, near Stockton, on Friday last. All things considered, too, the home team made a very creditable show. The first day’s play realised 469 runs. Lancashire, after dismissing their opponents for 187, sooring 282 for the loss of six wickets. Of the Durham total the brothers Crosby contributed 130, H. S. carrying out his bat for a very useful 43. A.B.’s display was of a different kind. His 87, of which 21 were made from one over of Briggs, was of a brilliant character throughout. The chief feature of Lancashire’s batting was the dashing cricket of Sugg. Going in first, he made 106 runs without a real mistake. This is the third hundred he has scored for Lancashire during the present season. The four last wickets of Lancashire only added 30 on Saturday, and after Durham had made 118 for the loss of six wickets in the second innings, rain caused the game to be given up. At the finish Durham wanted 10 runs to save the innings with four wickets in hand. D u r h a m . First Innings. Mr. J. F.
