Cricket 1891

8 6 8 CKICKET : A W^EKL* UkPORD OF THE GAME. AUG. 27, 1891 spectacles against Warwickshire, his batting showed no deterioration. On the contrary, with this notable exception he was generally successful, and his aggregate of 319 for four teen completed innings included two good scores of 71 and 33 against Yorkshire, at Derby, at the end of June. Mr. Wright plays the game thoroughly, and in addition to sound defence uses his strength well, hitting freely all-round when he once gets in. He is also a sure field anywhere, though generally taking point. He has also made a considerable reputation for himself in Association football. He represented Birming ham and District as half-back against London in the spring of 1886, and as full-back against Sheffield in October of the same year. He also played left full-back for the North against the South at the Oval in 1887-8. In either of these positions he has always shown to great advantage. In height 5ft. 8 £in., he weighs list. 91bs. Our j>ortrait is from a photograph by W. W. Winter, Alexandra Rooms, Derby. H O L B O B N TOUR. HOLBORN v. SHEPPY UNITED. Played at Sheerness on August 10. S h e p p y U n it e d . First Innings.
