126 CBICKET: A WEEKLY RECOKD OF THE GAME; MAT 21, 1891 INCOGNITI. The annual dinner of this Club was held at Limmer’s Hotel on Thursday, 14th inst. Owing to the unavoidable absence of Mr. Sydney Platt, in consequence of severe in disposition, the chair was occupied by Mr. A. M. Inglis, and he was supported by, among other members of the club, Lord Truro, Lt.-Col. Bircham, Sir Augustus Hemming, Major Johnson, Messrs. P. Hilton, E. B. Hay- garth, H. K. A vory,E .W , Lake, C. Lake, C. M. Tuke, G. A. Rimington, &c. There were also several visitors, including Mr. C. W. Alcock, the Secretary of the Surrey C.C.C., Mr. F. C. Bobertson, and Mr. Lloyd Davis. After dinner, the Chairman, before com mencing the usual list of toasts, referred to the circumstances under which he had been called upon to preside, and expressed the regret felt by himself, and he was sure by all present, at the absence of Mr. Platt ana its unfortunate cause. After the usual loyal toasts had been duly honoured, Mr. Inglis proposed what he said might properly be called the toast of the evening, v iz : ‘ *Success to Crioket and the Incogniti,” coupling with it the name of the Hon. Secretary of the Club, Sir A. W . L. Hemming. That gentleman, in responding, said he nad held the post in question for over 20 years, and he thought the time had arrived when it would be better filled by a younger member of the club. The health of “ The Visitors ” was proposed by Lord Truro, and replied to by Mr. C. W . Alcock, and the toast of “ The Chairman ” was given by Mr. E. W . Lake The whole arrangements reflected much credit upon the Dinner Committee, Lt.-Col, Bircham and Messrs. P. Hilton and E. A. Parke. We must not omit to mention that there was some excellent singing by Messrs. G. K. Anderson, S. H. Beckley and Lt.-Col. Bircham.
