D avis (Post Office, Iduteywa, Hanskei, South Africa).—Would you let me know through the columns of your paper the cause of death of Frederick, son of George II. ? I have heard that he was Billed or died from the e£fec>s of a blow from a cricket ball while playing in a match, tut cannot find any mention of the matter in my books. Would you also let me know what time intervened between accident and his death ?----- [According to Wraxall’s Memoirs (Vol. 1, page 403). Frederick Lewis, Prince of Wales, father of George III., died on March 20, 1751, at Leicester House, from the effects of an internal abscess, formed from a blow he received on his side, several months before, from a cricket ball while engaged play ing (practising ?) at that game on the lawn in front of Cliefden House in Buckinghamshire, where he then principally resided. Mr. Arthur Haygarth mentions this in his preface to “ Scores and Biographies.”] SOU TH L A N C A SH IR E R EG IM EN T F R E E FO R E STE R S. Played at St. Peter’s, Jersey.
