SOMERSETSHIRE- After a very even game up to a certain point, the Somersetshire eleven won this match, Begun on Monday at Birmingham, yesterday by 121 runs. Y O R K SH IR E . W ith such players as L ord Hawke, U lyett, Peel, Messrs. W hitwell, E. Sm ith, and F . S. Jackson all away, a very second-rate team did duty for Yorkshire at Leicester on Monday. The hom e eleven was also weak, being without Messrs. D e Trafford, J. A. Turner, and Lorrim er. On a soft wicket Leicestershire, who batted first, were dis missed for the small total of 8 9 , the last six batsmen adding only 27. Yorkshire fared little better, and, indeed, the one note worthy incident of the innings was a useful stand by Hall and W ainwright, w ho put on 49 runs for the fourth wicket. A t their second attempt Leicestershire did even worse than before, losing half their wickets for 2 4 . It was only a tim ely stand by W arren and W heeler that made the total 9 2 before the innings closed. Yorkshire had 88 runs to get, and, unfortunately for Leicester, Pougher, who took six wickets for 4 6 on M onday, hurt his foot so badly that he could only deliver four overs. As it was, Tinsley made 85 of the first 40 runs, and then H all and M r. Sellars hit off the remainder, leaving Yorkshire vic torious by nine wiokets. L eice stershire . First Innings.
