Cricket 1889

SEPT. 19, 1889. CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OP THE GAME. 415 umpire’s decision, except it be forgetting to pay for his lunch. Mr. Hutchinson’s advice to a batsman is to go in where you are told, and remember the later you go in, the less likely you are to get out. An old cricketer used to say that the best place was to go in last, because if the other man got out, you carried out your bat, and if you got out yourself, your confusion was covered by the close of the innings. Mindful of this sage advice and acting on the pro- visions2of the new Eule, we declare our innings at an end. It is with considerable regret, though, that we leave the field, although we all hope to see Mr. Hutchin son at the wicket a second time. KENSINGTON PARK C. & G. v. CLAP HAM W ANDERERS .
