W ith a view to complete the doings of the Irish Gentlemen on the American Continent, we give below the scores of the first two matches in the United States, which have not been published before on this side. Their opening fixture after leaving Canada was at Pittsburgh, but the game only lasted one day (Sept. 6l, rain preventing a continuance on the second day. The Pittsburgh Club had its full strength but still had all the worst of the one innings, the Irishmen just doubling their opponents’ score. J. F. Horn, The American Cricketer states, made his debut cn American soil in this match. Hynes was the most successful bowler for the Irish men, and the Fitzgeralds were responsible for nearly one half of their total from the bat. P it t s b u r g h . W. Reid, b J. P. The bad weather which the Irishmen had experienced at Pittsburgh followed them as well to Baltimore, where they had to play a local Fourteen on Sept. 8 and 10. J. P. Fitz gerald’s bowling puzzled the American team greatly, and Hodges was the only one to make a real stand. Dunn’s 71for the Irishmen was a very good display of batting. The match was drawn, the Irishmen being 56 runs and three wickets to the good as the game was left. G e n tl e m e n of I re la n d . J.W. Hynes, b Brune 3 J. P.
