The latter, having won the toss, went in to face the bowling of Harding and Buss, but were all dismissed for the sm all total of 13, Harding taking eight wickets for six runs. In their second attem pt they only reached 22 runs, ten of which were byes, only scoring twelve off the bat. This was owing to the excellent bowling of C. R. Hawes. He took four wickets in one over, one caught and the other three clean bowled. His analysis was as follows :—eight overs, six maidens, two runs, six wickets.
