Cricket 1888
292 GRICKETs A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. JULY 26, 1888. Peel’s figures were, on the whole, decidedly the best. In the match he was credited with twelve Lancashire wickets at an expense to his side of only 62 runs. L ancashire . First Innings. Second Innings. Mr. A. N. NOTTS. Play in this match, begun at Lord’s on Thursday, was practically limited to Satur day, and as a consequence the interest in the fixture was greatly reduced. On Thursday rain stopped the game after Notts had made fifteen for the loss of one wicket, and a re sumption was not possible on Friday from the same cause. On Saturday between 11.30 and 6.30 only twenty wickets fell, and as the aggregate number of rnns was only 178 it will be seen the play was very slow. The chief features of the match were the batting of Scotton and Mr. Daft for their respective sides, and the bowling of Martin for M.C.C. The last-named took five of the ten wickets in the first innings of Notts for 32 runs. At the finish the County was 25 runs on with nine wickets to fall. N otts . First Innings. Mr. J. S.
