Second Innings. DURHAM v. SUSSEX. After opening this match in a most sensa tional way at Sunderland on Thursday, Durham had the worst of the game, and were in the end easily beaten by 237 runs. The feature of the play was the performance of Anderson, who, we believe, hails from Gateshead. In the first innings of Sussex Mr. Thompson and he got rid of a very strong side for 24 from the bat, the smallest total for which a County eleven has been dismissed for a long time. Anderson bowled 16 overs and 2 balls for 18 runs and 8 wickets, and as he caught the two other bats men from Mr. Thompson’s bowling, it will be seen that he had a hand in the dismissal of all the ten wickets.
