This old-established club commenced the season’s operations on Saturday last, playing a match amongst themselves. Luckily pro ceedings were favoured with fine weather, which, no doubt, was partly the cause of the large attendance of spectators. It being the opening day advantage was taken of the occasion to introduce the new members, it being also the first appearance of the olub’s professional, G. E. Miles, late of Load’s, and Skegness. The grounds, considering the late and present weather, looked exceedingly well, the groundman (Sims) having given it every attention. The other arrangements were well looked after by the Secretaries, &c., and Mr. Vickery, the club’s caterer, attended to the commissariat department. Thanks were tendered to both Gregg and Miles for their gratuitous services rendered during the after noon. Messrs. G. Hall and J. Adcock kindly acted as umpires. Scores:— T h e X X II. G. H.
