Cricket 1887

428 C R IC K E T : A W E E K L Y RECORD OF TH E GAME . SEPT. 22, 1887, INCOGNITI IN IRELAND. The second visit of the Incogs to Ireland commenced on Monday, 16th August, and proved most successful in every way. Their Captain (Rev. P. Hattersley-Smith) won the toss on every occasion throughout the tour, and his team could, therefore, do no less than back him up by winning all the matches, which they accordingly did. The weather was mostfavourable allthrough, with the exception of the first day at Belfast, on which no play took place. It was, conse quently, agreed to treat the match as a single day one, and decide it by the first innings. Wynyard’s innings of 233 against the Phoenix Club was a grand display of battiDg, and Inglis and Matheson were all through heavy and consistent scorers. The former’s hitting was most severe, on one occasion he made no Jes3 than six “ fourers ” off seven consecutive balls. Tillard’s bowling was excellent and effective, and he was well supported by Parke and Matheson. The visitors were most cordially and hos pitably received, and brought away with them many pleasing and grateful recollections of their sojourn in the “ Green Isle.” INCOGNITI v. CURRA.GH CAMP.
