The Yorkshire eleven, though without Ulyett, Bates, and Preston, had an easy win in this match i)layed at Halifax on Friday and Saturday last, having at the finish 235 runs and an innings in hand. This decisive victory was maiDly due to the brilliant batting of Lee, who alone scored fifteen more than the Cheshire eleven in their two hands. He was at the wickets nearly four hours and a half, and in proof of the vigour of his hitting it may be stated that his score included thirty- seven fours. As a display of free cricket his innings was worthy of the highest praise. Peel took eight Cheshire wickets for 68, Harrison and Wade each six wickets at the same cost of 53 runs. C h e s h ir e .
