Jones had the following remarkable analysis:—3 overs (3 maidens), 0 runs, Gwickets. F or Bounds Green v. Enfield, J. Thurlow Thompson did the “ hat trick” in the first over oi the innings. M.C.C. & GROUND v. CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY. Mainly through the brilliant display of batting by Mr. W. G. Grace the Marylebone eleven gained a decisive victory in this match, begun on Monday at Lord’s, winning early yesterday afternoon with ten wickets to spare. The University eleven, after showing only moderate form in the first innings, playedup so well in the second that the game was invested with renewed interest. The chief feature of Cambridge’s first innings was the bowling of Pougher, who did the hat trick at the finish, bowling Messrs. Orford, Hale and Toppin with successive balls. When they went in a second time Messrs. Marchant, Thomas and Sutthery scored very fast, and it was chiefly to this trio and Mr. Ford that the total reached 294, the last five w'ickets only adding 44 runs. Yester day Marylebone had 178 to get to win, but Mr. Grace was in his very best form and the runs w'ere got in two hours and fifty minutes for the loss of only one batsman. Mr. Grace gave no actual chance in the attainment of his score of 116, in which were no less than thirteen fours. All cricketers will be gratified at this latest evidence of his remarkable ability. Twelve batted on each side, but only eleven fielded. Score: C am brid g e U n iv e r sit y . First Innings. Mr. C. D. Buxton, b Barnes 9 Mr. F.
