Deceased was a crack bowler in New Zealand. T he Mitcham Club has engaged as ground- man Arthur Woodcock, a Leicester colt. T he Auckland (N.Z.) Club had four elevens in the field on Saturday, November 27, and won all its matches. A smoking concert in connection with the London and Suburban Association will be held at Anderton’s Hotel, Fleet Street, on Feb. 25, at 8 p.m. Mr. C. W. Alcock, Secretary of the Surrey County Club, will preside. T he Melbourne Club Australian team were presented at Cape Town, where the “ Arawa ” stopped on her way to New Zealand, with an address from the Press Cricketers’ Union there. T he Victorian contingent of the team were met on their arrival at Melbourne by Messrs. Moule, Wardill, McLaughlin, Boyle and Scott, and on the following afternoon were welcomed home by the Melbourne Club in its pavilion. W e have just received a copy of Wisden’s Cricketers' Almanack for 1887. The work, now compiled by Mr. C. F. Pardon, includes a full account of the tour of the Melbourne Club Australian team in England last summer, in addition to scores and reports of all the principal matches. As a work of reference Wisden is invaluable to cricketers. The latest edition fully maintains the high char­ acter of the Almanack. U ly e t t has chosen the Surrey and York­ shire match for his benefit at Sheffield this year. The proceeds of the return at the Oval will be given to Barratt, the Surrey bowler. M r . W.
