Though they were able to get rid of York shire cheaply in the first innings, atDewsbury on Friday, the Leicestershire eleven never had a real chance afterwards. In the end York shire won by 145 runs, though they only suc ceeded in securing the last wicket of Leices tershire two minutes before time on Saturday evening. Warren, Tomlin, and Wheeler played good cricket for Leicestershire, but none of the others could do much with the bowl ing of Peel and Bates. Mr. L. G. Hill, aDews bury amateur, made a very promising debut for Yorkshire, as did Denton, a professional from Wakefield, and both will probably have another trial. Emmett, owing to a strain, was unable to play for Yorkshire. Peel took eleven Leicestershire wickets at a cost of 51 runs. Score and analysis :— Y o r k sh ir e . First Innings. Second Innings.
