188 i GEICKET: A WEEKLY BECOKD OF THE GAME. JUNE 9,188?. WAEWICKSHIBE v. SUEEET. A little more time on Saturday afternoon would in all probability have enabled Surrey to gain an easy victory in this return match, begun at Birmingham on Thursday, Warwick shire, when the game finished, still wanting 57 runs to save the innings, with only three wickets to fall. Heavy rain prevented any play on Friday, and on Saturday the ground was so heavy that the game could not be resumed till past one o’clock. Except that Mr. Bowden took Mr. Key’s place, the Surrey eleven was the same as that which had beaten Notts earlier in the week. Shilton bowled with great success for Warwickshire. He took eight of the ten Surrey wickets at a cost of 68 runs. The feature of the Surrey batting was the stand of the last two batsmen, Bow ley and Beaumont. They put on 71 runs for the tenth wicket.
