T h ou gh the L eicestershire eleven m ade a good fight in the first “ hands,” th e latter part of this m atch, begun on M on day at L eicester, was all in favour of th eir opponents, and in the end Surrey w on very easily b y 269 runs. M r. R oller w on the toss fo r S urrey, and though three w ickets w ere dow n fo r 38 som e good cricket by M r. W .W . R ead an d L oh m an n enabled them to reach a total of 168. T hough L eicestershire wTere on ly in a m in o rity o f 21 runs on the first innings, w hen Surrey w ent in again m ost o f th e team w ere seen to advan tage.
