Lucas, W, Newham, G. Brann, and I'1. Thomas, and Hants without Messrs. F. E. Lacey, E. G. Wynyard, II. W. Forster, and F. Meyrick- Jones. The ground had not as yet thoroughly recovered from the recent heavy rains, and as a consequence the scoring was not so high-as has often been the case when these Counties have met. In the threecompletedinnings, indeed, the highest individual contribution was Mr. E. O. Powell’s second score of 44 for Hants. Bean, Tester and Tato were the chief run-getters for Sussex, and the first-named in addition took six of the Hampshire wickets. The most successful bowler, though, of the match was Arthur Hide, He took ten Hampshire wickets at a cost of 67 runs. Sussex won by nine wickets. S u sse x . First Innings.
