Cricket 1887

162 CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. JUNE 2, 1887. first he was not out at the close of the innings, having scored 83 out of 94 from the bat. Four of the balance, too, were got before he made a notch, so that when he began he actually made all but seven runs fromthe bat. In addition to excellent defence h e can hit freely when he likes, as he showed at times against Cambridge last year, H e plays well forward, particularly on the leg side, and though defence is his strong point he hits very hard for his size. THE SCORE BOOK. NOTICE.—The Editor wishes it to be dis tinctly understood that he only guarantees insertion of the scores of those clubs arrang ing for the publication of all matches. To ensure insertion scores must reach this office, at the latest, by the first post on Tuesday morning following the match. *** Owing to an excessive pressureof Scoresy consequent in a great measure on Bank Holi day , we have been reluctantly compelled to hold over several of the latest arrivals. We propose to issue a supplement of four pages with the next number to meet the extra demand. H A M P S T E A D N O N D E S C R IP T S v . K E N L E Y . P layed at K en ley on M ay 30. K en le y .
