Cecil Raikes, M.P., Postmaster-General, ha 3 consented to be patron of the Post Office Cricket Club, and has written to the hon. seoretary, expressing his interest in the Club and his cordial wishes for its pros perity. The third annual general meeting of the Club was held at the General Post Office on Wednesday, the 28th ult., the president, Mr. Stevenson Blackwood, C.B., being in tho chair. In his opening speech Mr. Blackwood commented on the satisfactory financial con dition of the Club, and referred to the fact that it now has 258 members as conclusive evidence that its institution has met a decided want. The adoption of the report and balance sheet was moved by Mr. Algernon Turnor, financial secretary to the Post Office, seconded by Mr. Badcock, and carried unani mously. The prize bats were then distributed, and cordial votes of thanks to the hon. secre tary, committee, and auditors, and to the president were passed. In seconding the last, the hon. secretary, Mr. Philips, remarked on the kindly interest that was taken in the Club by members of the service, from the Post master-General downwards, but dwelt on the difficulties which he and the rest of the com mittee had to contend with in getting really representative teams, owing to the attractions of their local clubs to playing members, and ex pressed an earnest hope that more of the cricket talent in the Post Office would be at the disposal of the committee during the forth coming season. The new colours of the Club were submitted and met with general approval.
