Cricket 1886
446 CRICKET: A WEEKLY EECORD OF THE GAME. OCT. 28, 1886. gave him an opportunity of representing ,the Gentlemen, and though his participation in this match was a piece of good fortune, he acquitted himself well, showing excellent form each time for his scores of 16 and 27. There are few, if any, keener cricketers than Mr. Radcliffe, and as we have already said he has won his position by sheer perseverance. Ho bats as a rule with a very straight “ stick.” His play is mostly forward, and besides a fine drive to the off, he is a good leg-hitter, though at times inclined to pull a ball off the wicket. Though slow he is a safe field and is in addition, above the average of change bowlers, getting a lot of break on both ways. LAW CLUB. Matches played 27—won 7, lost 14, drawn 6.
