AUG. 6,-1886 CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. 881 LANCASHIRE v. CHESHIRE. The Lancashire eleven had an easy victory in their first match of the season against Cheshire, played at Manchester on Monday and Tuesday. Going in first, though they were only a little over four hours at the wickets, they were able to realise a good total •f 822, to which Messrs. Hornby, Lancashire, and Barlow and Robinson were the chief con­ tributors. In the second innings of Cheshire Davenport and Pointon were responsible for 100 out of 126 runs from the bat, Davenport in particular showing capital cricket.
