Sussex sent a very weak team to Notting ham on Thursday last to oppose Notts, and as a consequence the home Eleven had a very easy victory, winning on Saturday by an innings and 15 runs. Rain only admitted of an hour and twenty minutes’ play on Friday, and as the ground helped the bowlers, the Southerners had no chance of recovering the advantage gained by Notts. Bean and Hum phreys were the only batsmen who got double figures each time for Sussex, and in the second innings they were responsible for 41 of 72 from the bat. In the two innings, in fact, the last six batsmen only realised an aggregate of 28. Mr. Daft was the chief contributor for Notts. He gave two chances early in his innings, but otherwise played extremely well, He was in three hours and twenty minutes. Attewell’s bowling was very successful. In the second innings of Sussex he took nine of the ten wickets at a cost of only 23 runs. Sussiiix. First Innings. b .. 5 Tester, Flowers Sherwin, Second Innings. 18 Quaife, run out ... .
