The success of the cricket week at Willesden Green was interfered with by the cheerless cold weather in the early part of it, and more seriously by the approaching elections, the time and attention of many members of the Club who had intended to play cricket being occupied in the more serious business oi electioneering. This accounts for the inability of the Club to make a better show 011 the Tuesday and Thursday, for which an apology is due to the Ne’er-do-Weels and Hampton Wick. To add to the misfortunes of the home team, H. P. Thurston, who had come to town purposely to play through the week, sprained his knee on the first day and was quite incapacitated. The bad luck, however, was in some wav atoned for by the last two days of the week with glorious weather and good cricket. The victory in the M.C.C. match was due in a great measure to the good innings and fine fielding of H. T. Twynam: and W. O. Hewlett is to be congratulated 011 his century for the “ veterans” on Saturday. LAW CLUB v. REV. J. W. MARSHALL’S XI. Played at Willesden Green on Juno 21. L a w C l u b . T. D.
