S tebon h eath R ov e r s .— A well conetsted match was played on Saturday last at Victoria Park between these clubs. The result was a tie, each side scoring 28. M.C.C. SUSSEX TOUR. In what is known as the M.C.C. Sussex College Tour, the “ Old Club ” succeeded in winning all six matches, a really good perform ance this, and against such strong teams as those of Ardingly College and Brighton Col lege. The “ professors” mainly contributed to this good result, Davenport’s batting being consistently good throughout the week, and Pickett very deadly with the ball. Rylott and Hay were a]so extremely useful. In the average for the week Hay comes first with 57 for two completed innings, his highest score being 101. The average of Davenport is, however, much better, though not so high as that of Hay. The Cheshire professional batted in every one of the innings (seven in number) of the tour, and came out with an average of 52.2, having made scores of 116, 82 and 67. Of the amateurs Mr. E. A. Parker comes first with an average of 36 for three innings, once not ou t; then comes Mr. T. Parkin with an average of 22.1, once not out; then Mr. O. R. Borradaile with one of 15.3; and Mr. Cowper-Coles, who, like Davenport, played in every innings of the club, with one of 13.6. M.C.C. & G. v. ARDINGLY COLLEGE. Played at Ardingly on June 21.
