This was attended with such signal success that a general wish was expressed that the “ week ” at home should become an annual event. The weather, though very cold, was, on the whole, fine, and the wickets, owing to the great care bestowed upon them by the ground man, Tate, were both true and fast,consequently the run-getting was heavy, and three members of the Hornsey Club, Messrs. Rood, Harrison, and Geo. Swin­ stead, attained the coveted century. Every match, with the exception of the one with M.C.C., which was a very close thing, ended in favour of the Home team. In addition to the heavy scoring of the three members already referred to, mention must be made of the very fine all-round form displayed by F. H. Swinstead, and the bowling of G. C. Raynor, who accomplished the “ hat trick ” against Southgate. The Hornsey scored during the week 1,228 runs for 57 wickets, and their opponents 949 runs for 72 wickets. HORNSEY v. CITY RAMBLERS.
