THE ELEVEN v. NEXT SIXTEEN. Rain prevented a commencement of play in this match on Thursday, and when stumps were drawn on Saturday night the game was left unfinished. The Sixteen had throughout rather the best of the play, and as they would have had to have gone in to make 68 to win, the draw was certainly more in their favour than against them. The ground was in favour ofthe bowlers, and the most noteworthy display with the bat was that of Mr. A. K. Watson, who had a deservedly high reputation at Harrow last year. He was in while 125 runs were got, and his play was, throughout, distinctly good. He gave no chance in his score of 57, and altogether his form was so promising as to justify the belief that he will have a good trial in the University Eleven. The most successful bowlers were Messrs. Arnall-Thompson andWare for their respective sides. The former, who has been consistently successful so far in the trial matches, was credited with six of the Sixteen’s wickets for an average of eight runs. Altogether Mr. Ware delivered 36 overs for 49 runs and seven wickets. The Freshman, Mr. Rashleigh, again acquitted himself well, showing steady cricket each time for the Eleven. T he E leven .
