THE IN TEE-PROVINCIAL MATCHES. CANTgJjy3URY y. OTAGO. On Feb. 20 {he return match between the representatives of the above provinces was begun on the Carisbrook Ground at Dunedin. The game, which extended orer four days, was productive of great excitement at the finish, Otago proving victorious with only two wickets to spare. Beck, whose first ap pearance it was in a representative match, was in four hours for forty-eight runs in the first -railings of- Otagq:— Tho highest scorers, though,were Millton(Canterbury) and Parker (Otago), and the latter, whose hitting fairly won the match for his side, was car ried in triumph to the pavilion. The first of a series of one-day trial matches for the Leicester Colts, was played on Easter Monday on the Aylestone-road Ground, Leicester. Very unfavourable weather prevailed, but still some fair form was shown by the Colts, particularly by Goadby, who played good cricket for his 22. Rylott took nine wickets at a cost of 57 runs. The weather was more favour able tban on the previous day, but the ground was all in favour of the bowlers, and thirty-nine wickets fell for 111 ) runs. Pougher, for the Colts, took six wickets for 13 runs, and for the County, Rylott seven wickets for 19 runs. In their second innings none of the Colts got double figures. J. A.
