Cricket 1885

442 CRICKET; A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. oot . ^ mu . I th in k I am fully justified in prophesying that there will be high jinks at Reigate on Wednesday next. The occasion will be the wedding of another gentleman not unknown among cricketers, Mr. W. W. Eead, who is to be married tbat day to Miss Florence Wells, daughter of Mr. A. Wells, of Mead Lodge, Eeigate. The Editor of C r ic k e t , I am requested to announce, has generously granted a general holiday to the wbole staft of the paper in honour of the happy occasion, and there will be a heavy strain on the resources of the South Eastern Railway, Limited—limited in resources I mean—for the journey Reigatewards that morning in con sequence. C r i c k e t ’ s best wishes in any case to Mr. Read and his wife. Cricketers, too, will hear with interest that Mr. T. S. Pearson, the well- known Middlesex amateur, was married on the 20tli inst to the eldest daughter of Sir Salusbury Payne. A sm ok in g concert is to be given at the Crystal Palace on the 26th ofnext month under the auspices of the Crystal Palace Cricket Club. The promoters are anxious to enlist the support of as many cricketing friends as possible, and are desirous I should aunounce that they have secured the services of some really good talent. All |articulars, as well as tickets, price 2s. 6d. each, which include ad mission tothe Palace, can be obtained of Mr. J. Astc, jun., Rosslea, South Norwood Hill, or from any of the ofti cers of the club. LAW CLUB. M a tch e s played 29, w on 15, lo st 6, draw n 8. Matcitfs W os. May 80—v. Merchant Taylors* School.
