Wilson, was a very enviable one. The cricket, as will be seen from the scores, was in favour of the club, notwithstanding it had to do nearly all its batting on dark days and its bowling on bright ones. The events of the week were the fine batting of Mr. Smith, and the first class wicket-keeping of Mr. Wrigley, though all the regular members of the team did themselves credit. In the first match our Oakley was to the fore, and in the last our Bell, who batted and bowled as few could. Words of praise must be given to our opponents—Winghamfor his remarkable innings, Captain Tattersall for his first-class bowling, and to Mr. Jones and Bass for their fine cricket. The Stygians received much kindness from all, and especially wish to acknowledge the hospitality of Shorncliffe camp. STYGIANS v. SHORNCLIFFE CAMP. Played at Shorncliffe Camp on August 17 and 18.
