Total .. .330 E M E R IT I TOU R IN L A N C A SH IR E . This tour began on Monday, August 17, and finished on Thursday, August 27. The result was three wins, twj losses,, and four draws. OwiDg to the unavoidable absence of Mr. H. U. John, and the non-appearance of Mr. J. B. Hatt, upon both of whom tlie manager of the tour had fully relied, the team was deprived of the assistance of two good bowlerj, and it is to the lack of bowling rather than to any other cause that the nnall number of wins must b3 attributed. Thp brunt of the bowling fell upon Mr. .J. J Parfitt. Mr. C. de Trafford heads the batting averages, whilst Messrs. Tarfitt aT,r Preston did fairly well, the latter especially fcoiing very consistently. In noticing the long scores sc red against the Emeriti, i must be remembered that the captain was singularly unsuccessful in losing the toss on so many occasions, and in being obliged to use his weak 1owling on almost prrfect wickets. Moreover, nearly all tho clubs with which the Emeri’i tried conclusions, had the assis*ance cf professional bowl-rs. The tour was, on the whole, a veryc joyable one, and it is hoped it will be repeated next year under more favourable circumstances. . EMERITI v. LIVERPOOL C. & G.
